Amanda Beavin
With a background in community-engaged research and community organizing, Amanda Beavin is passionate about elevating the voices of communities through research and participatory decision-making. She is particularly committed to advancing housing and health justice through community-centered, holistic interventions. Prior to joining the DYCU team, Amanda completed a Geography MA and MPA (Masters of Public Administration) at Syracuse University, where she gained expertise in community-engaged research, qualitative and quanitative data analysis, and mapping/geospatial analysis. Additionally, she worked as the Graduate Assistant for Syracuse Community Geography, where she assisted community organizations in answering spatial questions and mentored students engaged in participatory research and geospatial analysis. For her Geography MA, Amanda conducted participatory research on housing conditions, housing code enforcement, and tenant unions. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, she holds Bachelors degrees in Sociology and Geography from Western Kentucky University.
