NNIP partners bring their existing data holdings and deep relationships in the community to support the planning and implementation activities of place-based initiatives. Working collaboratively with a range of other local organizations, NNIP partners apply data in ways that enhance the effectiveness of these initiatives. A new series of briefs summarizes local partners' activities in 4 cities in federal place-based initiatives.
The series includes:
- An overall framing paper summarizing the ways partners assist local grantees with data and analysis.
- A case study on how Mid-America Regional Council in Kansas City used regionwide neighborhood-level data and new decision-support tools to show local stakeholders how higher-density development in suburban corridors could be feasible, which stimulated fresh thinking about more equitable development patterns.
- A brief on how Community Information: Now in San Antonio supports the EastPoint Community on their Promise and Choice Neighborhood Initiatives in program planning and continuous improvement efforts.
- A brief on how Rise in St. Louis, as part of the Wellston Choice Neighborhoods Initiative team, is providing data and analysis to document baseline conditions, engage the community, and inform the Transformation Plan.
- A brief and longer case study on how NeighborhoodInfo DC at the Urban Institute partnered with the District of Columbia Promise Neighborhood Initiative in Kenilworth-Parkside to collect performance measurement data and provide analytic support for the results-driven working groups.
