Expanding Use of Local Wealth Data for Local Action
Addressing the racial wealth gap and building individual and community wealth is a central component of reaching NNIP’s vision of all neighborhoods becoming places where people can thrive. Local data are important tools for local leaders who seek to build wealth and address inequities. For example, data can be used to understand and quantify the drivers of wealth and disparities and to inform the variety, design, and implementation of innovative solutions.
In this webinar, we feature local data resources from Urban Institute’s Financial Health and Wealth Dashboard and examples of how those data are used to tell stories and motivate action in cities across the country. Our NNIP Partner in New Orleans, The Data Center, will also briefly review the motivation for their work to develop local wealth estimates, the methodology, and highlight what it takes to implement the methods in your own city. They will also share more about their collaborations to expand these estimates to new communities.
