King County Child Death Review Report
Report by Public Health – Seattle & King County: Child Death Review Team
January 2017
The purpose of King County’s Child Death Review (CDR) is to review systematically the unexpected but preventable deaths of children ages 0-17 in King County, Washington, and make recommendations to improve programs, systems, environments, and policies that impact risk factors for child death, with the aim of preventing future child deaths. Through case studies, CDR participants make expert recommendations for prevention of future deaths by focusing on modifiable risk factors and population-level trends. Recommendations are targeted to specific systems or policy bodies and other entities that can reduce risk factors to protect children.
