Federal Aid to College Students

As the recession lingers, employment appears to be particularly dependent upon access to a college degree. Unfortunately, the Philadelphia region does not do as well as many other regions in accessing Pell grant funding. While the need for funds has increased commensurate to the national picture, Philadelphia's higher education institutions appear to be disproportionately attracting higher income students than in the other 8 metropolitan areas used for comparison.
