Childcare Accessibility and Enrollment in Waterbury: 2016 Neighborhood-level access to early childhood systems in Waterbury
The Waterbury Childcare Accessibility and Enrollment Study was prepared by DataHaven, and commissioned by The Leever Foundation. The 26-page report provides information on the number of young children by zip code and neighborhood, available childcare slots by cost and type (family, center, school based), and the relative adequacy or shortage by neighborhood.
Maps identify the locations of childcare and can be updated interactively by local partners. The report was released to the community by DataHaven at a meeting at Waterbury City Hall that was attended by numerous early childhood partners, board of education members, school administrators, parents and other community partners, including Mayor Neil O'Leary and Superintendent Kathleen Ouellette. Information in the report will be used to help find ways to eliminate the barriers and challenges faced by families.
