The Ballad of the API

This presentation was part of the Ignite Showcase at the NNIP May 2015 partners meeting. 

Application Program Interfaces (APIs) quickly allow us to challenge friends to Candy Crush and find out how many degrees of separation actors have from Kevin Bacon. We should also harness this tool to allow people to quickly find neighborhood information! This presentation shares the concept of APIs without the technical minutia. Although not the answer to all problems, there are clear examples where APIs can improve on current redundant data tasks. Structuring data and opening it to the world of APIs allows the machines to take over and do some amazing things.
