Urban Strategies Council's Take on Oakland's 100 Blocks Plan
Urban Strategies Council (Oakland)
June 2012
Our 100 Blocks Analysis applied research capacity to the community’s calls for transparency on the critical issue of public safety. The Mayor's Safety Plan (2011), stated that 90% of homicides and shootings occurred in 100 blocks, however, the city did not identify the specific blocks. In order to address the inquiries that we received about the 100 blocks, we decided to conduct our own analysis to see if we could develop a similar 100 blocks model with available data. Please see the link below for our results and methodology.
