Civic Data Forum
In 2019, Innovate Memphis launched the quarterly Civic Data Forum to convene local neighborhood data stakeholders and partners, to change the culture of ad-hoc and “one-off” data sharing commitments from local leaders into a sustainable and long-term data-sharing culture that celebrates open data and efforts to improve data. In its current iteration, the Civic Data Forum is comprised primarily of data providers in administrative government roles, with funders and non-profits making up about 40 percent of the group, and is aiming to soon include more place-based and non-profit organizations.
In 2019, they invited experts from numerous NNIP partner cities as guest speakers. In 2020, they hosted one meeting before the pandemic forced them to pause on convenings. The Forums began again in February 2021 as a virtual event.
